Planning my questionnaire

I am going to be planning my questions for the questionnaire i will be making, this will involve people watching my opening title sequence and giving feedback on it, for example the sound, the titles, if they enjoyed it, what was good, improvements that could be made etc.

Finished title sequence

I have now finished editing my opening title sequence as i have made all the extra little adjustments that i felt were necessary.

Finalising my opening title sequence

In this lesson i looked through my opening title sequence with Mr Royden and i decided to go back and edit some more, i made a couple of the titles bigger and move them around into different places to give a better effect. I also made the film title wipe across the screen so that they do not all just appear.

Further Research

i have done further research in to which distributor to use, i decided on Pathé Pictures
International Present, this is because they have distrubuted films such as Adulthood which is a british drama and 127 Hours which is also a drama based film, like mine.

Risk Assessment

Tuesday 20th December 2011

- Filming from night to morning
  • Camera needs to be fully charged or it could cut out
  • If its in the way people could trip over/walk in front of it whilst its recording
How could I prevent this happening?

Make sure it isn't filming in the way and charge the battery properly before i begin to film.

Wednesday 11th January 2012

- Filming in a space where a car parks
  • Getting in the way of the car
  • People walking by
How could I prevent this happening?

Film as quickly as possible without unnecessary interuptions and keep watch for people or cars.

- Filming along a road and very near to a car park
  • Cars passing by
  • People walking by
  • Could be very busy when I'm filming
  • Weather could be bad
How could I prevent this happening?

Film as quickly as possible and be cautious of cars and people, also film if it isn't raining even if the sky is dark as it prevents the trouble of having to re-film certain clips when the weather may be different.

Sound

Today i picked a specific piece off of the website which i previously posted and decided to use it for my opening title sequence. I have now added and edited it in and I think it suits my piece and its gives the mysterious vibe that i was looking for.

Sound

Today i have been researching and trying to find a piece of music to use and that matches my title sequence in the right way. I have been using garage band to experiment and also www.audionetwork.lfgl.org.uk which has music which you can take and use without breaking copyright terms.

Editing

In the lesson today i realised there was a couple of sections within my opening title sequence that i wanted to change or take out, so i spent my time re-editing and going through to find any other bits i might have forgotten or missed.

Editing

today i finished putting on all of my titles on to my opening sequence, i have used white writing with a black outline to emphasize each particular title, except for the Film Title which is in just black and of a larger size than the rest.

Editing

I've now cut and edited everything into the right places and is now in the order i want it to be in. I have also started putting on titles, i have put on 3 so far and plan to carry this on in the next lesson.

Editing

I've started to edit all of my footage and put the rights bits in the right places. this is nearly finished and when i eventually have everything in order then i will be able to focus on titles and sound etc.

Film Title

I have decided to name my opening title sequence to my film 'Last Chance' it gives a sense of mystery which is also what is given off through my title sequence and i think it helps to entice the target audience.

Production Company

The production company i will be using is Mandate Pictures. They were the production company of Juno and other films such as Whip It! and Young Adult. They were founded as an independent company in 2005 and have helped make many films during that time to now, helping finance and develop award-winning films such as Juno which was distributed by Fox Searchlight Pictures.

Production company planning

At the moment i am planning and researching which production company i am going to use for my films production company and why i will be using that specific one. i will look at different company's and decide which one best suits my opening title sequence, i will look at similar films to mine, for example Juno which is a drama film like mine.

Filming

by mid-january i managed to complete all my filming and then uploaded it so that i can start editing on final cut express in the next lesson.

Filming

I have now filmed the majority of what i need to be able to start editing however i have a few more shots that i would like to film and one shot that i feel would benefit my opening titles if i re-shot.

Filming

During the holidays i began to start filming for my title sequence which i will continue throughout this week. I will be using my storyboard to follow and get the right shots and hope to finish filming by the end of the week to upload to final cut express which i will then be able to start editing over the coming weeks. I will be using a camera and a tripod.

Digital Storyboard

The first week of January i created and completed my digital storyboard. To do this i took pictures of my hand drawn storyboard, i then used final cut express and placed the pictures in the right order which followed with me editing them to a suitable time length and then adding titles to them.

Film Title Research

In a film opening it usually consists of the following titles:

- distribution company
- production company
- actors/actresses
- casting by...
- music by...
- edited by...
- produced by...
- directed by...

These are the titles which i will be including in my film title sequence.
